Young Champions for Mental Health

by Claire Young on 25 May, 2018

Are you, or do you know, a young person who has experience of mental health problems and would like to volunteer to help others?

If so there is still time to apply to Time to Change to become one of their new Young Champions. Successful applicants will join an 18 month programme of training and support to share their experiences and campaign about mental health.

You need to be:

• Are aged 16 – 25 with personal experience of mental health problems.
• Want to volunteer as part of England’s largest social movement to ensure that this generation can be more open about mental health problems than any before.
• Want to use your experiences to speak out to make sure no young person is made to feel isolated or ashamed because of their mental health problem.
• Want to attend training, be part of local campaign groups and meet other passionate, like-minded young people.

They are especially keen to hear from people from groups that are less represented in mental health campaigns, such as people who identify as LGBT+, people from BAME communities, people who are severely affected by mental health problems, young men, people from faith groups, disabled people and young people from less advantaged socio-economic backgrounds.

More information can be found at http://www.time-to-change.org.uk/young-champions and applications are open until 5pm on Monday 28th May.
