On Wednesday Claire proposed a Climate Emergency motion at South Gloucestershire Council. The motion commits the authority to the challenging target of cutting the area’s carbon emissions to net zero by 2030.
The Lib Dems originally tabled a motion but following successful discussions with Labour and the Conservatives, a revised version was seconded jointly by the other two group leaders and agreed with unanimous cross-party support. Your Focus Team is delighted that everyone has agreed to work together as one united council on this issue, putting us in a much better position to reach our goal. We’ve agreed to scope out an action plan by the end of the year – the hard work starts now!
We’re keen to get local people involved, the council cannot do it on its own. Do get in touch with your suggestions.
