It’s time once again to have your say on the Conservative South Glos Council’s budget proposals. For 2020/21 they include a Council Tax rise of 1.99% and a new Adult Social Care Precept of 2%, adding £59.22 per year to a Band D Council Tax bill.
There was a great fanfare about extra money from Government but it’s one off grant funding. The only ongoing extra money the Council will get, over and above the Council Tax increase, is the new Adult Social Care Precept – that is, it will be extra money you pay on your Council Tax bill.
Even with this money, the council will still have to make the major cuts it already has planned and more because there is expected to be a core deficit of £11.9m in 2023/24.
The are also proposed changes to the Council Tax Reduction scheme.
You can find out more and comment via the consultation web page. You have until 5th January 2020 to have your say. The final budget will be voted on at the February meeting of South Gloucestershire Council.
