This Wednesday sees the latest talk organised by Frampton Cotterell and District Local History Society.
The talk will be given by Alan Freke of Frenchay Museum. It starts at 7.30 p.m. at Zion United Church, Woodend Road, Frampton Cotterell.
All welcome. Entry £4. Free to members (annual subscription £15). Light refreshments are provided.
“An Utterly Good Man –The life of F. D. Maurice”, an academic, Victorian vicar and author, who established colleges for the education of both women and men, believed that capitalism was rooted in greed and helped to give legal status to co-operative bodies such as working men’s associations. He was a member of the Royal Commission discussing the Acts of law which gave police the right to arrest prostitutes, forcibly medically examine them and confine them in a lock up hospital”
