Making Public Spaces Safer

by Claire Young on 12 June, 2020

We’ve already told you about some of the changes the council is making to our public spaces in response to Covid-19, such as trialling pedestrianising Thornbury High Street and putting in social distancing markers outside schools.

From Sunday 14 June, the road under the railway at Bristol Parkway will be reduced to one lane of traffic using shuttle traffic signals. This is to make space so cyclists and pedestrians can socially distance while using the shared use pathways on either side of the carriageway. At busy times this may cause delays, so allow extra time if you need to travel this way at peak times. Further information on this scheme is available in a frequently asked questions document.

There is also a page explaining the different things the council is doing to make our public spaces safer. We expect to have more schemes to report in the coming weeks.
