South Glos Council has teamed up with Jobcentre Plus to host two job fairs aimed at young people leaving school, college or university.

One will be held on Wednesday 26 February at Yate Library and another on Thursday 6 March at Kingswood Library, between 10am and 2pm. Young jobseekeers will be able to meet with a variety of employers and talk face to face about vacancies, apprenticeships, and other upcoming employment opportunities. There will also be advice and information available, including tips for effective CV writing and guidance on accessing training.

Confirmed attendees include representatives from South Gloucestershire Council, Jobcentre Plus, South Gloucestershire & Stroud College, National Apprenticeship Service, N-Gaged Training & Recruitment, Army, NHS, Care UK, Marshfield Bakery, WDM, Reflections, Danco Marquees, Bromford and many more.

The council is also working with its partners to make sure small businesses have information about apprenticeships. Recently Ladden Brook councillor Howard Gawler in his role as Vice Char of Council attended an event aimed at doing just that. The free event  at the Bristol and Bath Science Park was organised by the council, the Federation of Small Business (FSB), the National Apprenticeship Service and South Gloucestershire and Stroud College. It offered business owners the chance to learn more about how to employ apprentices and how they can make a positive contribution.
