Last month Claire met a Highways official and a local resident on Henfield Road to discuss safety concerns. At the meeting the official advised that it was not possible to install speed tables, chicanes or other traffic calming measures without a system of street lighting.

Following the meeting the official asked the police if they would assess the entrance to “The Clamp” as a potential speed enforcement site. The police explained that they had stopped using that site but are now successfully using one less than 500m away.

The Road Safety team are looking to install a post for a temporary Vehicle Activated Sign. This will flash at drivers exceeding the limit and log when and how often the speed limit is being broken,

Street Care visited the site last week. They will be cutting the grass and removing the overgrown vegetation to maximise the width of the existing tarmacked pavement from opposite Kendleshire Golf Club up to Serridge Lane.
