Uncovering local Second World War stories

For the last 18 months, South Glos Council has been delivering a project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, to uncover real life stories of those who lived and worked in South Gloucestershire during the Second World War.  To acknowledge the 80th anniversary of the start of the Second World War and to share the stories that they have gathered through their project, they are holding two free events:

South Gloucestershire Second World War Stories Project Film Premiere

Tuesday 3 September, 2019 : 12.30 or 2.30pm

The Armadillo, Yate Youth Café, Yate Shopping Centre, Yate, BS37 4FW

Discover the real life stories of people who lived in the area during the war. These 10 short films tell stories of wartime childhood, headstrong women and men at war, of ordinary lives affected by extraordinary events.

Refreshments provided.

There will be a chance to view the touring exhibition, watch the short films, take part in activities, enjoy live music from the era and meet living history volunteers. Suitable for all ages.
