Recycling collections restart on Monday

by Claire Young on 30 July, 2023

Full waste and recycling collections are to restart from Monday 31 July.

Following discussions between Suez and Unite, the strike action is suspended whilst union members hold a ballot on the latest pay offer, and the council are hopeful that this offer is accepted.

All waste and recycling collections will return to normal from Monday 31 July and will be collected on your scheduled collection days.

Please put your containers out on your usual collection dates, including garden waste bins for those who are subscribed to the service. You can check your collection days on this page.

The council are expecting there to be a higher volume of recycling. If your recycling is not collected, please take it back in until the following week. Crews will not be revisiting recycling missed collections in the first few weeks, please bear with them while they catch up

Thank you to all for your patience and for storing recyclable materials or dropping them off to a recycling site during this period. Especial thanks to those who helped family and neighbours by sharing information or volunteering to drop off recycling for others.

Some services such as the Revive shop and bulky item collections will continue to be paused until week commencing 14 August at the earliest whilst the teams focus on collecting the additional household recycling. The council will review the services and update this date as necessary.
